Policy for life Membership

This policy sets out the procedure and minimum criteria to be eligible for an award of Life Membership of the Bundoora Football Netball Club Inc.

This award exists to recognise the valuable contribution to the current and future existence of the club. It is therefore only awarded if the criteria are met or in exceptional circumstances should the Executive Committee of the day believe it is warranted.

Only one recipient should receive this award in any one year period although the club recognises that exceptional circumstances may arise, when two worthy recipients are eligible. It will then be at the discretion of the Executive committee to decide on the number of life memberships to be bestowed.

It should also be recognised that Life Membership does not have to be awarded each year.

In considering the award of Life Membership an individual should have demonstrated significant, sustained and high quality service enhancing the reputation and future of the overall club.

Criteria

The criteria to be taken into account when considering any nomination is:

General Consideration
The general attitude and overall demeanour of the nominee shows a dedication to the values of the club.
Commitment to the principals of good sportsmanship.
Value leadership and good role modelling that reflects credit upon the club.
Financial member of the club sustained throughout the course of involvement.
Voluntary role for non-playing nominees.

Length of Service
The length of service to the club should be extended service of 10 years as a player and/or as a volunteer role with such service in either role being taken concurrently, or in total of 10 years' service in exceptional circumstances.
Active involvement throughout the course of each year.

Other Specific Criteria
Specific achievement, both on and off the field will be taken into consideration.
Areas.of involvement to include: Playing, Coaching, Administration,Trainers and general contribution including fund raising and other involvement that the Executive Committee may see as relevant.
Only a financial member of the club may submit a nominee.
Financial commitment to the club over a 10 year period may also be taken into account.

Process

The process for nominating a candidate for Life Membership isas follows:

Nominations must be forwarded in writing or email to the Executive Committee.
Nominations must be seconded by another financial member of the club.
Nomination must be forwarded to the Executive Committee one month before the Club presentation night.
Nomination must include detail in support of the Criteria.
Nominations will be received, discussed and researched by nominated members of the club as authorised by the executive committee.
Final recommendation for life membership to be voted on by executive committee.
Executive committee may request additional information from person/s submitting.
Executive committee must in writing provide reasons for denying to person/s nominating.
Nominee/s awarded Life Membership will be recorded in the AGM Report.
Retraction of Life Membership may occur where the recipient has conducted him/herself in a manner that reflects directly and adversely on the image of the club. This provision will only be exercised in exceptional circumstances and will require the full support of the Bundoora Football Netball Club Inc. Executive Committee to be enacted. As part of the deliberations the Life Member in question will be given opportunity to present their case for retention of their Life Membership status.

Benefits of Life Membership

The benefits for Life Membership are as follows:

Recipient is presented with life Membership at BFC Inc. Presentation night.
Recipient is awarded Life Membership badge and suitable acknowledgement.
Recipient is issued with complementary season's pass for home and away games for "Life"
Nomination must be forwarded to the Executive Committee one month before AGM.
Listing on Honour Board.
Exemption from annual membership costs.
Half time refreshments at home games held by Bundoorian's coterie group.
Personal invitation to club events specific to Life Members.
