Ex-Essendon star Gary Moorcroft won the Northern Football League grand final off his own boot today.

The 41-year-old took a mark and kicked the winning goal with just seconds left in Bundoora’s win over highly-fancied Macleod at Preston City Oval.

Macleod looked like the winners until Moorcroft took the grab and slotted his third goal of the day to get the Bulls over the line 10.16 (76) to 10.13 (73).

Strong winds at Preston made goal kicking difficult and the game seesawed heavily, although Bundoora were in control for much of it.

They kicked 2.9 to 0.1 in the first term to set up a decent lead, but had to keep fending Macleod off all day.

The flag is Bundoora’s third since 2011.
